Q: Change username?

Hey everyone!

I was just wondering if it was possible to change a username associated with an Apple ID account. Basically, I want my forum name to be something else. Does anyone know how to do that?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I think I understand now. If I just login with my apple ID without setting it up, it automatically creates a username for the discussion boards?

I'm glad YOU do... but I don't think I understand what you may have done = start to finish - maybe you could give some background and tell us the story of your actions.

When you are creating a New Apple ID, you fill out the form from the first to the end - top to bottom. The first part is your RealName & address, city, state.

IF you choose a username that is already in use, the system will "suggest" usernames based on your FirstName + from + city - thus brantfromnorth hollywood -

You still have to CHOOSE from the offered suggestions.

You can test this by trying it out and NOT finishing at the end.

I will alert our Hosts to your post. I believe they respond by email when they get to your place in their ToDo list.

I don't remember the process exactly. But I made this account for iTunes 6 years ago. I don't think I ever logged into the discussion forums since I've never posted anything. I did call in once for help but that was it.

What you said makes sense, I could have possibly just went through the process really fast without thinking and clicking things many years ago and just discovered the results today. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Here is what I would do - and have done - create a New Apple ID for the forums ONLY. ChitlinsCC is only used for ASC. I have another that is related to purchases only.

be sure and pay attention at the Choose a username section!

Thanks. Can they alert me on my email: *******@gmail.com, because I don't have access on this email address which is used for this apple ID.

I'll let them know, but it's completely up to them even if they decided to let you change your username.

Could you please ask the hosts to change my username as well? Someone else made it for me and I'm not comfortable using personal information.

Seems I'm in the same boat - there was no screen asking me to choose a username. I saw an ASC post I wanted to reply to, logged in using my current apple id and was immediately returned to the post where I saw a username that was picked for me automatically, or so it would seem. Is it possible for you to 'flag' my post or otherwise alert the hosts that my username is a security risk and is broadcasting my location without my consent. I appreciate the help.

Hi, any word on this? If it pleases the mighty Apple, they can look at the SAME freaking account I use in iTunes which uses my legal name on everything including my credit card. I don't understand how this is hard. I've had this account for over a decade; things change. Being inflexible is not exactly an option if you want to keep your customers.
