can't find quicktime 7 control panel to register, nor does quicktime have the left side drop down to register PRO

Usually, at the end of QT/Win installation, the installer asks the user to go Pro. Have you tried to reinstall QT?

Not sure why you posted in the Mac OS X 10.7 forum, but launch QuickTime Player and go to Edit > Preferences > Register.
