Mail not adding Sender to Address Book

When I have a message from someone I want added to my address book, I hit the menu button to Add Sender to Address Book, yet nothing at all happens, and I end up having to enter all the info manually. Any ideas as to why this occurs, or how to get it working?

The shift, command, Y didn't work, and when I opened the Console app, and tried the menu command, it didn't work, and I didn't see anything showing up on the Console, relative to Mail.

What I did see on the Console was endless lines like this:

MacKeeper Helper.app/Contents/MacOS/MacKeeper Helper", ...): No such file or directory

Nov 14 11:10:04 stevens-computer com.apple.launchd.peruser.502[106] (com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper[40111]): Exited with exit code: 1

Nov 14 11:10:04 stevens-computer com.apple.launchd.peruser.502[106] (com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

Do you have any idea why it keeps doing this, despite my not having MacKeeper on my computer? Could there be a hidden file I can't find? And do you know what "Throttling respawn" means?

OK Austin, I did it again, and the Console says it failed. So I know it failed, what was I supposed to gain by reading it Console?

This is all it says:

Nov 16 13:38:38 stevens-computer Mail[319]: -[ABAddressBook save] failed. (<ABAddressBook: 0x116ba2a10>)

Nov 16 13:39:18 stevens-computer Mail[319]: -[ABAddressBook save] failed. (<ABAddressBook: 0x116ba2a10>)

Does that offer any clues?

The hope was that Console would record the reason rather than the fact.

Look in folder Application Support/AddressBook in Library in your Home directory. Select file AddressBook-v22.abcddb and Command-i to display the Info panel. Report the details from Sharing and Permissions.

In Address Book, if you select a card and click edit, and change some details then exit Address Book, are the changes there when you restart Address Book?

I have been having the same issues since I upgraded to Lion a few years ago and now am on 10.8.5 Mountain Lion and still have the same issues. I have full permissions and removed the Address Book folder in Application Support. I have full permsions to edit the entire folder and even set everyone to full permissions and the console still reports error when adding sender to address book.

Strange thing is it will sync to iCloud and download all my contacts from my other computers and show up. When I started fresh after wiping everything out it still won't add a contact. So frustrating.
