Macbook Pro mid-2010 blue tint with GPU switch

Have had this problem off and on for a while, but as of a few days ago it is constant. Anytime the integrated graphics are used the display changes to a blue tint. Switch back to discrete graphics and it returns to normal.

The only "fix" is to turn off graphics switching in the Power settings... but, that's not a fix, it's a work around.

Has Apple addressed this in any way or even acknowledged it in any way?

Thanks in advance.

Same for me on Mid-2012 15" MBP. Problem only appeared today. Kind of annoying.

Same for me on early 2011 8.3 MacBook Pro (17", core i7). Problem appeared around August 4th or 5th with a new update to Yosemite, and stayed there until I turned to gfxCardStatus. I have to disable the GPU to avoid having a fuzzy and rapidly frozen screen. Then it turns black (or white, or you name it). Then it does not boot again but by playing numerous times with all those Cmd-S, Cmd-R special boots.

I lost one month and one busy travel tour with that not-booting laptop.

I would rather have had a first-generation core i3 with Windows (yes!) but not this useless thing.

And now how can I address my 4K developer screen through the Thunderbolt (1)-> HDMI port with just the integrated graphic chip? I simply cannot (admittedly even a working laptop would only generate 1080x1920 on this 4K, but still...)

I had this problem too. I tried all the tips and suggestions mentioned here and nothing worked, permanently. I did noticed that my Mid 2010 MacBook Pro was showing that the battery needed service when you holded the option key while clicking on the batter. At first I didn't worry about it, the computer was still lasting around 3 hours while on batteries. The screen problem continued until the day I decided to replace the battery. After replacing it the problem went away and it haven't come back! it has being about 6 months since then. I hope this helps somebody.

** I had to get a third party battery, Apple doesn't produce the battery for my model anymore.

I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro and have recently been experiencing the screen going to a blue screen with stripes right in the middle of doing something. It is not any one thing, but it goes blue at random times. I have been doing the PRAM reset and this does work, but not always at first; sometimes the screen stays white after the apple icon disappears, and sometimes the apple comes up with stripes and then it does not boot properly. I am wondering about the SMC instructions, I will be trying that but am curious if it might be the graphics starting to go out and if so, which would be a good replacement. If it is not the graphics card, what else might it be? Once I get it back up and running, it lasts quite a while, but it's a problem because I never know when it will go blue. Any thoughts?
