I am trying to activate my iPhone 5. It tells me I need to update iTunes to 7 so I downloaded it but now it tells me I have to update my software to 10.6.8 or higher (10.5.8 now). When I check for updates it says I am up to date! Help!!

I can't guarantee it will work, but iTunes 10.6.3 was released for developers to beta test iOS 6.0. Give it a shot, & see what happens. If it doesn't work, you have no choice but to update your computer. SL is no longer sold in Apple stores or online, you'll have to call Apple sales to get a copy. Cost is US $19.

Thank you! But is everyone who has a 3 year old Mac Book Pro having this problem with everything I described? It's not like my Mac is that old...
No, they aren't because most of them upgraded their operating systems as new ones became available.
I have it on automatic update and allow updates whenever I see them available. I think this is an iCloud issue. Thanks though
No, it has nothing to do with iCloud or automatic update. Snow Leopard (10.6.8), Lion (10.7.x) and Mountain Lion (10.8.x) are all paid upgrades, not free updates.
