I just purchased an iphone 4s. I had to upgrade my system software to Snow Leopard, itunes is still not recognizing my phone as connected and "syncable"

I just purchased an iphone 4s. I had to upgrade my system software to Snow Leopard, itunes is still not recognizing my phone as connected and "syncable"

I have restarted my cpmputer and my phone to no avail. Suggestions?
