Recalled/replaced HDD will not boot and iMac gives weird messages

Hi,

Major help wanted ... Have replaced HDD as part of iMac recal campaign. Reformated said disk c/w 2 boot partitions for reinstallation of backed up data software and OS's from Time machine. Forget it!. Only one of these partitions is recognized in the list coming out during Option Start: 10.7.5. But it produces a weird message and forces me to reboo using an external disk. The other partition does not even show up on the startup screen but I get the icon of an EFI boot disk in addition to the 10.7.5 volume icon. In both cases the contents are available when using an external disk. System profile identifies them both as bootable. Tried blessing them through Terminal and got nothing except the message that is appended. Among the the info from an earlier attempt with Terminal was a statement that the mounting point could not be found.

Am now on the verge of an iBreakdown and ready to play frisbee with my iMac right in the Apple store where I live.

Is there a real genius out there who will help me solve this never before encountered problem since 1994 (the year I bought my first Mac)?

Thanks for your help.
