can I save my sent emails to an external drive

Wondering why would you want to do that? They are saved in Apple Mails sent messages...if that's what you are using.

My hard drive is full so I have to remove everything from my MacBook. The mail folders moved to my external drive but not the inbox nor the sent message. I will be reinstalling my applications after the computer is wiped clean. Have been moving all inbox messages to folders but want to save the sent as well. There are 45,000 of them so I am not sure if it is possible.
should just export from there to wherever you want! 😀

I have an old 10.6 version and it does dot have this export option. It does however have an "archive mailbox" option, is that the same thing?
If you want them as text files then I think there are programs for it. However I don't remember what they're called. The export mailbox button under "Mailbox" should do it for you. You can save to an external drive from there.
