Are the courses on Itunes U free?

I recently downloaded the free app ITunes U but when I go in and look at the

Available course it doesn't have a price or say that they are free and I don't

Want to download something thinking it is free and be charged for it later, so

Are these courses free or not? And if they are not how much do they cost?
