How to reinstall my app purchases?

I was on 3GS, them moved on to iPhone 4 and hence moved on to iPhone 4S.

All the while using the same Apple ID. I can see all my past purchases in my iTunes online account but I couldn't find my previous app purchased in iTunes 10.7, it only shows all those recently purchased using my iPhone 4S.

I had used a different laptop to synch and backup.

I recently backed up my iPhone 4 before upgrading to iOS 6.0.1 but when I tried to restore my apps, it wouldn't synch.

Am I making any sense here guys?
