New MacBookAir

I have a macbook with 500G hard disk, I do regular backups with Time Machine.

I want to buy a MacBookAir 128G.

Can I use my time machine backup to boot the new MBA?

Thanks for your help...

Cheers

No. A Time Machine Backup is not in a format that permits "booting" to it.

However, that Time Machine Backup can serve as a source for Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant to transfer settings, users, apps, and documents for your new Air.

I would recommend that you use Setup Assistant in the manner described by Pondini in this User Tip.
