TS1286 iPAD 3 Will not connect to Itunes . can not connect  What is wrong with it. Need to backup my I pad to I cloud.

I can not backup to I cloud I tunes keeps saying can connect to Ipad.  Need to backup to I cloud.

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi + Cellular (VZ), iOS 6.0.1, CAN NOT Connect to I tunes for back
