Can't view movie trailers on itunes

Hi,

When I go onto itunes and try to view video trailers I wait for it to load push play and it plays one second then stops then I push play it goes to the beginning and now plays two seconds and stops then I hit play and it goes to the beginning each time and gives me one more second of play each time.

How do I get it to play the whole way through once? I've tried viewing music videos at aol music and the same thing happens.

I have DSL connection and my speed is light with my provider. Also I have the new Quicktime 7.0 but not the pro version.

QT Pro is not required. It should play fine with QT Player.
Despite having DSL, try this:
Check 'Load complete preview before playing' in Preferences>Store.

Also verify if your streaming speed is set correctly in System Preferences>QuickTime>Streaming. Set the streaming speed to automatic or one step lower than the actual DSL speed.

Hope this helps.

I don't have a direct solution for that problem.
I went to the Top 11 page and all videos played fine on my system.
AOL doesn't use QuickTime for video playback however.
I can see Safari is downloading a lot of .swf files from pdl.stream.aol.com, which means it it using Macromedia's Flash Player.
I can see no way to preload all contents before playing.

You didn't tell what setting fixed it for watching the video trailers on iTunes.
If it was 'Load complete preview before playing', then there might be a problem with your DSL connection. The provider can tell it is light speed, but is it? What is the real speed? Resetting (switching it off and on again) the DSL modem/router sometimes helps.
I have a small application called MenuMeters installed and have it set to show the network throughput in the menubar.
On occasion it will tell me that the max. download speed is far too low.
Resetting the modem turns it to full speed again.
What kind of connection do you have? What speed does the provider say it is?

You also might want to update the Flashplayer plug-in. You can find the download links for the Flash Player and the Shockwave Player at the bottom of this page

Hi,

I'm not sure what fixed the problem but I think it was the download complete because when I went to Quicktime >Preferences>Store it was already set on automatic.

Now for what speed I have...I went onto my supplier site and it says maximum download speed is 128Kb/sec and Maximum Upload Speed is 64Kb/sec. Also I have the Express one and there is a Turbo (5Mb/sec max download speed, 512kb/sec max upload speed) and an Ultra (7Mb/sec max download speed, and 1Mb/sec max upload speed).

I went on the Menu meter site and I don't get what this is exactly but I'll figure it out and read about it. Do I want the: 1.3 compressed disc image (dmg) or the 1.3 source code (tar.gz).

Also I will check out the FlashPlayer site as well. This is all above my technical knowledge of Mac but hey I'm willing to learn and figure it all out. A friend of mine thought it might be my internet speed.

Thanks again,

Fuchia

Do you know what kind of connection you have?
The 128 KB is way to slow for streaming video.

The MenuMeter application (download the .dmg file) will install an Preference pane in the System Preferences.
I have set it to only display the Network throughput to monitor the Internet connection.

The Flash Player Installer will install the latest plug-ins for your Internet browser.
This makes the browser more compatible with sites that use the flash player to stream video (like AOL).
