The Books tick has been eliminated in iTunes version 12.7. Now we are unable to manage iBooks in iTunes.

With this new iTunes version 12.7 and IOS 11.0.1, iBooks can no longer be managed from iTunes. I have about 200 important documents, pdfs, on my iPad and iPhone. In all previous versions of iTunes, these documents were accessible and manageable in iTunes, and it was possible to place them in categories, document the authors, adjust the titles, etc., and then to sync all my devices to insure the documents were consistently available on either of my apple devices or my Windows 10 computer.

With the new Files app, I am able to add documents to my devices and even read them in iBooks, but they are not stored in iBooks and cannot be sorted or placed into categories with other related documents. Many of the documents already in iBooks require periodic updating, but with this new iTunes version and the new operating systems, all I can do is delete the older versions in iBooks and place the new version in the iCloud Drive which is now in the Files app. The old iCloud Drive app at least allowed these documents to be imported to iBooks, but I'd have to do that on both my iPhone and iPad.

I've left detailed feedback with Apple, but no response and no sympathy. Am I the only one troubled by this loss of functionality? This change rendered iBooks essentially useless.

Did it in mine as well so annoying, cant even get free books from bookbub anymore. No Book TAB in itunes at all only audiobooks. Help chat was useless was chucked off twice when they couldnt explain why.

Am off to buy a Galaxy I only use my ipad for reading now waste of time, cant purchase books because cant get intot he store to do it. Cant read freebies because they wont download.

HOPELESS. Let me go back a version.

A pdf file can be copied to the Adobe Acrobat app from the Files app and then organized into folders and uploaded to the Adobe Cloud. I can also copy the pdf to iBooks from the Adobe Acrobat app, but it’s useless to do so since there are no organizing file attributes. After the pdf is in the Adobe Acrobat app, it can be deleted from the Files app rendering that to be just a cumbersome transfer app from the iCloud drive on my computer to my iPad and iPhone. I’m still experimenting hoping to find a more convenient way to do this, or possibly the nice folks at Apple will restore the Books tag in iTunes with a future update.
