Messages won't launch on OS X Mountain Lion

When trying to launch Messages I get an "Internal Messages error: There was a problem with Messages. You need to quit and open Messages again." Messages won't launch ever since I restarted after the last Mountain Lion update to 10.8.2. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi,

I would start with Repairing Permissions (Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities)

Follow that with a PRAM reset.

Shut down the computer.

Restart it holding down Apple/CMD ( or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.
