my download stack just disapeared> How do I get it back & working?

Hello, I have been uxing Mac for 25 years! It is the only way. I got stuck , when my Download symbol for stacks just dissapeared.Does anyone know what to do?

Mac mini (Late 2009), iOS 6.0.1, All software is up to date

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

It will appear automatically when you download something on Safari. If not, open Window > Downloads

If you're talking about the Downloads stack that appears on the dock -

Open Finder and drag and drop the Downloads folder onto the dock.
