My IPod Classic Photo has died. I have a Sad-IPod Icon and Disk mode cannot be activated. Support has expired from Apple. Are there 3rd-party repair options in the UK?

Probably not for the 1st gen, but it sounds like your hard drive is dead! Sorry to hear that. 😟
Sorted. Thanks to Mitch 751. In the end I had to open up the iPod, disconnect then re-connect the hard-drive.
I'm glad that you were able to fix it. Now I know what to do if anyone needs help on the same thing. Hope it contiues to work for many more years to come.
