120GB dead. Big red X. How can I save my 10000 songs?

Hi guys, I need your help badly.

My iPod classic 120gb died on me. Red x. Computer won't recognize it. I have +10000 songs on that iPOd and that iPod alone. I am a music freak. Some of those songs were really hard to find. And I can't remember 10.000 songs to retrieve them all over again. I really need to have a way to somehow copy those songs from that iPod.

Anyone with ideas? You would have no idea how huge my gratitude would be if someone could find the solution.

Hi,

I'm probably too late to this conversation but I came across it while looking for a solution to a dead iPod issue I have.

It's not fixed yet but I have been able to backup the hard drive.

The problem is slightly different in that the iPod is just dead. Nothing on screen even with external power.

I found if i took the back cover off, disconnecting the battery and the link to the headphones and removed the battery and reconnected it to the lower left corner where it would normally connect, the iPod would start and allow me access from my PC.
