url stream not found

I have Shoutcast and Accuradio on my ipod touch and several free radio stations in each. For the past several months, almost daily, many url streams not found or loading never completes and usually a stream stops after less than one hour, Accuradio being a little more reliable than Shoutcast but fewer stations.

I downloaded these apps directly on the ipod touch which also has hundreds of music files I put on two years ago which was the last time it was connected to my computer.

I hope I have described the issue properly.I am a senior who is not too swift in these matters so any easy reply would be appreciated. Thanks!

From your description I suspect a network problem.

I would:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Power off and then back on the router

- Make sure the router has the latest available firmware. Update aas necessary

- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Thanks.I believe I have the 2nd. generation ( purchased December 2008)

I don't think I can get software updates.I also checked Apple help which stated to connect to pc and check for updates but it is for ios5 and later. I think I have ios4 ?

A 2G iPod can go as high as 4.2.1

Does your router have the latest firmware?

I confess to not knowing what a router is. I do know that on the ipod in settings there is no option for software

upgrade but there is an option to reset networks.will that help even though I can't upgrade via computer?

A router is a piece of hardware that runs your provider's wi-fi. It is often located near your computer.

ok. well we get wifi via our telephone company's ( sympatico)modem which includes the router.

Connected to a desktop pc and wireless to my laptop in another room.

How to I check for latest firmware? Thanks!

I have discovered that, although all Shoutcast or Accuradio stream cannot be found in my favourites list of stations,these stations, when selected individually from the stations listings will stream fine but only for an hour .

So, as a favourite they won't play but will if I activate them one by one from the stations offered.

But why for only an hour when they cut out? Is this length of time normal for streaming or because my Ipod is older?
