Ok, I'm running OS 10.6.8, just installed iWork from the retail dvd version 903.  But, when I choose software update, it doesn't see any updates. I'm pretty sure there were some...

    The answer is the same as I gave the OP in the other thread.


    iWork '09 installed from the retail disk or from the downloaded trial must be updated through Software Update. In Mountain Lion Software Update has been "rolled into" the Mac App Store. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu just like you always have & the Mac App Store will launch. Depending on what you have that needs updating you may see two sections in the MAS window.


    But, as always, if you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps installed from a retail box or the downloaded trial & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

    HI Peggy. Thanks for the reply. Well, it looks like something may have changed on Apple's end.  I installed on two different MBP's, and ran software update immediately after restarting and repairing permissions.  SU did not find any updates. I have the retail DVD (v903). I haven't move the apps from the folder inside the "iWork '09" folder inside the apps folder. Since both MBP's have the same behaviour, I'm assuming something changed. I just downloaded and installed the 9.1 updater (which said it applied to iwork v9.0 and greater), and then the Keynote 5.1.1 updater, since it said it applied to SL and Keynote 5.1.

    Well, I'm thinking that maybe Apple changed something on their end recently. I know you mentioned your have updated fine. But I just installed this week. I ran software update immediatly and SU didn't pick any updates. I didn't rename the iwork folder, any my 10.6.8 system is pretty clean.

    You are right. I have Pages 9.0.5 and the Software update hasn't told me for a long time that I should update iWork.

    Well, just installed 903 off the DVD, and had to updated manually to iWork update 9.1 and then the additional Keynote 511 after that. SU wouldn't tell me I had any available after the DVD installation. I appreciate your confirmation.   Both have SL as a requirement. It would seem, however, that 9.2 has Lion and ML as requirements. It looks like the 9.1 gives us a little info for SL
