Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to “Time Capsule ...f”.
The backup disk image....sparsebundle is already in use??? this happened after I upgraded to Mountain Lion?

Reboot the whole network.. restart in correct order.. modem.. router /TC .. clients .. 2min gap.
If that doesn't work, reset the TC and rename it with SMB compatible names.. short no spaces pure alphanumeric.
Read C12 here. This is the most common issue on this discussion area since ML came out.. it is equivalent networking to wet string and a pair of tin cans.
I am having the same error message, but I am still on OS 10.6.8 - can't blame Mountain Lion ...
Are you suggesting a complete reset - ie dump all the old back ups and start again?
I fixed it! I unplugged and waited about 20 min while shutting everything down and restarted everything and plugged it back in. It worked for me! I am so happy it worked.
You DON'T need to unplug ANYTHING. Simply RESTART the TC from the Airport Utility and you will be good to go once it's done REBOOTING.
