my touch locked up in the download mode, it shows cable to store

I downloaded the new updates and it failed, but the touch has a the usb and iTunes on the screen won't do anything, and it doesn't recognize my touch

iPod touch (4th generation)

Try:

Reseting your iPod touch by holding the Sleep/Wake button and holding it again after about 10 seconds.

Resetting your Mac or PC

Re-plugging your iPod

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
