I have an old version of FCP 3 on a laptop running under the old Mac OS 9.2 (that I haven't used for years). I'm going to be receiving some HD video that I want to edit. For you old timers out there - am I out of luck or can I make this work? Thx
No. The first version that could edit HD footage was FCP 4 (or 4.5) and that version could ony edit one HD format: DVCPro HD.
Of course, you could downconvert the footage to SD and then edit with FCP 3.

The first HD capable version of FCP was 4.5 (hence its designation as FCS HD. And it was only DVCProHD.) I finally threw out the box in a fit of clearing out the office a few months ago ...
