Cannot Share, tells me referencing camera when not

FCPX 10.0.6, newly updated. I am trying to export an extremely important project, and when I try to export the file to YouTube, I get this error: "This item cannote be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera."

Now, I am fully aware of what this means, and I am 100% sure that I am NOT referencing anything on a camera. All cameras, cards, even hard drives have been ejected. All my Event files are on the Hard Drive.

It also looses files in the Events folder, telling me they are missing. I open the Import dialog, and as soon as I do this, it reconnects the files. I don't even import anything. It only does this with 4 specific files, everything else is fine, even the other files in the same folder.

I even duplicated the project with the event files to another hard drive. This did not solve the problem. It is a multicam project with ProRes 422 and H264 footage. Please give me some suggestions!

I had this same problem but in iMovie. This method works if you have the same problem in iMovie. I just created a new library called backup and reimported the clips into that library than waited until it completed then ejected the camera which gave me the missing video alert but all I had to do was move the clips from the backup library to the original project folder and the clips put themselves back in place.

After working for a day and a half on it, I finally called Apple's Pro Video support, and they said it looks like some of my camera files may have been corrupted. I don't know if this is really a solution, but I just transcoded those files using MPEG Streamclip (free download, just google it) to convert the clips to ProRes 422, and this solved the problem for me. It was unfortunate that FCP was not able to provide more information about what was going, and gave a misleading error of camera not available.

Edwinux,

Amazing that worked, after trying for a long time.😢

I am reprinting cause it was fast and I was able to share.

Final Cut Pro X is a challenge at first but if we share the info we can overcome these hurdles!!

Thank YOU!!

Here it is:

1. Select all your clips in your event library

2. Go to File --> Import --> Reimport from Camera/Archive --> Continue

3. Wait until it complete 100% and then all share items will become available again😁

I did the same as BenB with my HVX200 P2 card MXF media. I was getting constant import error messages with FCP X (updated to 10.0.9) though it claims to import MXF. Could not share or export due to "referencing camera" error message. To make things as simple as possible I downloaded my P2 media into my old FCP 6 and exported everything through Compressor into a designated file as Apple ProRes. Closed FCP 6, reopened FCP X and imported media from designated file. I hope this helps some Panasonic users out there. I had struggled for a week with this. I had even constructed several projects/timelines before discovering I couldn't export them! Had to trash and start over, but relieved that the future looks brighter even if I do have to take this extra step with my P2 media.

Edwinux, you are a life saver. I had the same problem. Project won't share. FCPX thinks a camera is connected. Your instructions worked like a charm. We had switched the project footage to camera mode so that we could view meta data, log notes, etc. Aparently that caused the sharing problem.

After few more hours of mouse clicking I FOUND A SIMPLE SOLUTION:

1. Select all your clips in your event library

2. Go to File --> Import --> Reimport from Camera/Archive --> Continue

3. Wait until it complete 100% and then all share items will become

available again
