Where is the save as option?

I recently updated my software to lion but now there is no "save as" option in the file menu for pages! I am in grad school and must save/submit many documents in word format so my professors, supervisors, and classmates can open them. I tried to use the keyboard shortcut for "save as" but it only made a copy of the document and wouldn't allow me to save as a word document. I am able to see the option if I go into the help menu and search for it but I would like to not have to do that every time I want to save a file as a word document or to a flash drive. It might be a simple fix that I am overlooking so if anyone could be of any help, that would be great!!

Nope. Select Duplicate from the File menu. Select the duped document then select Save from the File menu. Otherwise, you don't need to use Save or Save As because of the Auto Save feature: OS X Lion- About Auto Save and Versions.

To "save" as Word is really an export operation and it should be under that name in both the Edit and the Share menus.

It might be a simple fix that I am overlooking so if anyone could be of any help, that would be great!!

Upgrading to Mountain Lion & Pages 4.2 will return Save As… to the File menu when you hold down the Option/alt key.

Does the Save as… that returned in Mountain Lion include the export options?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, Jeff. It's the same dialog as in pre-Lion save as. You can get to the same place in Lion by going to File > Duplicate & then File > Save. Exporting to formats other than iWork '08 are in File > Export or Share > Export.

That's exactly what I meant, Peggy. I was just curious since most of the discussion I've been seeing has concerned losing (and eventually restoring) the single step Save as… for the four steps of Duplicate, Save…, Revert original and Close original.

Im in great need of how to save as a word doc. on pages 5.2 i did the <save as> an nothing im getting real frustrated someone please help ASAP

U Can do one thing is one up pages after that u write document click on save

after u hit the save u will get a notification about under which name it should be store next to it there would be down signaling hyphen click on it and then

u can see the save as option down to 2nd last just enable it and ur file save as a .docx file
