I have a MacBook Pro purchased in the fall of 2009. I am currently running operating system Mac OS X version 10.5.8. I need to upgrade and do not know where to start. Lion, Mountain Lion, Snow Leopard??? Suggestions?

I have not upgraded my operating system and am in need of doing so. I have a MacBook Pro purchased in the late summer of 2009. I am currently running operating system Mac OS X 10.58

What is the simpliest way to upgrade to another version of the operating system. I need cost effective and hassle free. Thanks for guiding me through this!

PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Apple provides a pretty good explanation of how to upgrade: http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade/

You won't be able to get to Lion or ML until you have Snow Leopard installed though. You can purchase SL from the Apple store for $19.99. Upgrade to SL, upgrade to the latest version of SL and then you can install Lion or ML.

The following post also provides a more detailed description of the process: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3900920
