Sync-- Calendar Events Limited to Last 12 Months

Recently, my iPad 3 has developed a problem with syncing Calendar Events. Even though I have All Events checked in Settings, only the events from the last 12 months of my iCloud calendars are downloaded to the iPad3. I don't have this problem with my iPhone5--some 15 years of events have downloaded to the phone. Strangely, on the iPad the settings for this seems to make no difference--I tried changing it to the last month, and then syncing, but I still had the last 12 months of calendar events. I have also done a hard shutdown/reset of the iPad. Nothing has worked. Does anyone have any ideas as how I can fix this?
