I got an PowerPc G4 From a friend for free cuz my gateway Laptop died and the Itunes on this powerpc will not connect to the internet with out an phone line but i am hooked up to a CAT5 which is connected to my modem how do i get it to run off of the CAT 5 cuz obviously i have internet im asking this question online on the came mac but the itunes isnt see the CAT 5 as an internet source

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
it is still coming up that i am not connected to the internet and i dragged the ethernet to the top of the list should i delete the telephone modem option to force it select the ethernet or does it not work that way?
Certainly try unchecking it.
Okay it is now currently unchecked, and the only thing reading is built in ethernet and it is active. but itunes is still reading "make sure your network connection is active and try again"
Oh wait, what iTunes are you trying to connect to? The iTunes store? Won't work in 10.4.11. 😟

ok with a taking a bit of the help you gave me and the bit of a gut feeling i tried something, What i did was i re-downloaded the itunes 9. blah blah blah i cant remember the whole program file name...... after re-downloading and re-installing the entire thing it took like a grand total of maybe 5s. and everything started up just fine with no problems and no (make sure your internet connection is active) box. but thank you very much for you help like your link didnt totally solve my problem but sparked an idea....🙂
