3G / wifi

If I leave a wifi area (to go outside my house) the iPhone appears to automatically switch to 3G (cell phone) internet. But then when I come back inside my home, within wifi, it doesn't automatically switch to wifi. How do I get it to switch to wifi automatically and save my mobile phone data allowance?
