How do you insert a video into iBooks Author without it crashing?
Everytime I try to drag a video into iBooks Author the program crashes. The particular video is a mp4. Does the video need to be a certain format?

See iBooks Author: Add video to your iBooks - Support - Apple
Crashing is abnormal. Try reinstalling iBA and/or working with a fresh book to first confirm a process that works properly.

Thanks for confirming, tho.

I have exactly the same problem (since I installed Author 2.0) and I tried everything (reinstalling, using a different template, startimg from scratch). Any other idea?
In fact, it crashes with all possible video formats. It also crashes every time I open the media widget, and I click on "movies" tab.
Please help!
I finally found a work around. I had to erase my hard drive and reinstall the OS. When I tried to restore my backup from Time Machine I got a blue screen. So once again I had to erase my harddrive and reinstall the OS. Whatever data I needed to restore to my computer I simply dragged from my backup. I then downloaded iBooks Author from the App Store. Dragging media into it works perfectly now.
I can only conclude that there was something a miss within my system since the backup of the system would not restore. There are several programs that I needed to reinstall but that was only a minor annoyance. My system which was quite sluggish before flys now.
I had the same problem with the crashes and movies tab you had. I am an IT person so backing up, erasing the HD and reinstalling was not a problem for me. If you are not comfortable doing that I would suggest going to the Apple Store and having them do it.
I hope this helps you.
