Unable to search for a company in Contacts in iOS

I have companies listed in my Contacts on my iMac. On the contact card the box next to Company is checked and the name of the Company is entered in the Company field. There is nothing in the first and last name fields. On my iMac (Mountain Lion) I can search on the company name and find the company in my contact file. Howerev on my iPhone and iPad (IOS 6) search on the company name produces no results. I sync my Contacts with Google. In Googe Contacts these companies do not appear either.
