Looking for a transition filter effect

I'm looking for a transition effect that like text being folded up or down, but not a page peel.

You can see an example in this trailer, at the 1m 42s point.

And in this trailer, at 38s:

I'd love to know how this effect is done.

That does not look like a transition but a simple text/object movement.

Problem with the Basic 3D filter is that objects rotate around their center.

I don't have much time but I put together a solution that can replicate

the animation in the Gozzilla clip (38sec mark), which means having the object arising

from the bottom of the frame.

It is a simple effect that allows also to spin even automatically the text/shape,

it has also a perspective adjustment parameter

All you have to do is use a few keyframes at start and stop of the movement.

Here three examples of what the little plugin can do:

Here the plugin to download:

Instructions:

After downloading and unzipping the plug-in drag it to Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support / Final Cut Pro System Support / Plugins folder. Finally restart Final Cut Pro and the effect should show up in the effects menu, Luca's Plugins (Arise & Spin)

Hope that helps,

Luca

Thank you for this. Did you create this filter yourself? It's really cool (i'm sure to use it in the future), but I need to be able to replicate an effect where the text folds in from the left as I'm restoring an old movie trailer and it has got to be an exact match, as per the first trailer I linked to above. It's an effect that was used in quite a few old movie trailers - I really like it.

Hi Marc,

you can achieve that still using the same plugin I sent to you.

All you have to do is rotate your image in photoshop 90 degrees anticlockwise

like this:

Then import that inside FCP and in the Motion Tab Rotate it 90 degrees:

Apply my filter and the result is this:

You may need to resize a bit but that should work.

Sorry if I cannot provide an horizontal opening right now,

I will when/if I have time

Best,

Luca
