Windows via Bootcamp keyboard/mouse not working???

I have a 15" Macbook Pro and have installed Windows 7 Ultimate via bootcamp with all the correct apple support drivers but suddenly my keyboard/mouse will not work at the sign in screen for Windows at all. Up untill this point I could restart my mac and resign in through the windows partition and easily play my favorite games. Recently I tried signing into windows but at the sign in screen I cannot use my mouse nor my keyboard. Please do not tell me to reinstall windows unless that is the only solution because of data not backed up. Is it a driver issue, how can that be because it worked fine for weeks? Please get back to me as soon as possible!!

If the mouse and keyboard are working under OSX then it can't be a hardware issue.

You could try:

  • starting Windows in safe mode to see if the mouse and keyboard work. (Press F8 repeatedly just before Windows starts to boot to bring up the Windows boot menu.) Safe mode loads a set of basic drivers to just get Windows running and no more.
  • Another thing you can try is unplug the mouse and re-plug it in after a few seconds while at the login window. The USB ports may re-detect the mouse.
  • Try booting from a Windows PE CD or USB stick if you have one. If the keyboard and mouse work under Windows PE then it's probably a driver issue under your Windows install.

Did you install anything under Windows before this happened?

Sorry about the late reply, I did indeed try all of these methods and nothing seems to be working. I have not installed anything new (that I know of) before this happened. Could this perhaps be the apple keyboard driver.exe being somewhat corrupt, and should I reinstall these drivers from a more reliable source? If that's the case where should I install these new downloaded drivers at? I guess the big question I'm asking is where can I view my drivers for Windows 7 in OSX or is it only viewable in Windows?

The point is that I can't actually use Windows Explorer because my keyboard does not function nor does my trackpad so I am stuck at the sign in screen. I can't open any folder and install the drivers because of this. Anyways I appreciate the help and am happy to say that my problem has been fixed. I simply restored my Windows partition to an earlier point in time when it did actually function using the apple keyboard/trackpad. I actually tried restoring it several times and it was never successful. Then I rebooted Windows and suddenly my drivers were fixed; it was although my problem has never happened. I am guessing that restoring the system did in fact restore most of my settings I had in that previous time, even though it was not ever completely successful. Anyways my problem has been fixed and I thank you guys for responding quickly. Cheers!

i have duly slapped myself along my head, so much for assuming, I was thinking you had an EXternal trackpad. Dohh. Glad you got it to work, I had a similar issue (different problem) and i did the same thing I also did a prior date restore and nothing happend so I just forgot about it for a week or so and rebooted into Windows and lo and be hold it worked like before, couldn't tell any difference on the date, cool.
