Is there a way to use a usb camera on a 1st generation ipad?

I have the usb adapter kits to plug in a camera and transfers pictures taken with virtually any camera. This works, but, I would like to use a stadard USB camera with my first generation Ipad for skype videocalls. I don't use iphone.

Is there an app that will allow me to connect via the apple camera USB camera kit a standard USB camera to my ipad in order to use it in skype videocalls? Any suggestion as how I could have this functionality without having to buy an iphone??

No, you won't be able to use a camera or webcam with the first gen iPad for use with Skype (you can still use Skype, but the other person will only be able to hear you, not see you). iPod Touches also support Skype and FaceTime if you want to be able to do video calls.
