Hide App Update

Well the new Skitch is very disappointing.

Reinstalled old version from my Time Machine.

Removed Skitch from my purchases.

Can't remove Skitch from "Updates View" despite mercilessly right clicking on the Skitch update box and everything inside the box in a search for the magic pop up menu with the "hide" option. At least that is what I've been reading in many forums.

Mad at Skitch for putting me in the position of staring at the **** red (1) bubble all the time.

It's like trying to get a stain out of nice piece of clothing that won't come out!

Been looking periodically for the past month or so for a solution and I can't find a simple one that works.

This shouldn't be this hard to fix.

Your time machine is using a Time Capsule, or other HD? Could you disconnect that, and see if this removes the red badge? Often when the MAS sees a copy (often a backup copy somewhere), it will flag you as needing updates if it's not the currently verison, despite you may have an updated version already in your applications folder.

@Hackintosh, I am using a Time Capsule. I did turn off the time machine and did not notice any difference.

Maybe, I am misunderstanding your suggestion but, I do not want the latest update of Skitch. I want to keep using the superior 1.X version until it no longers works. I want the Mac App Store to stop constantly nagging me about 2.X updates. I am not interested in them.

What you want to do is not something the engineers intended the user to do. A solution I can think of, is to right click on the file, open up the contents. Then remove the MAS receipt from the package. This will stop MAS from knowing you have an out of date app.

Actually, I over-think things when I'm tired.

Just do this:

Open the Mac App Store, and choose the “Updates” tab
Right-Click on the update you want to hide, and choose “Hide Update”
