I've just transcoded .mts files from a panasonic tm900 1080/50p via ClipWrap to pro res 422 but the resolution is not as good as the original files? I'm looking at it in QT player 7. The picture seems to be a bit unclear/grainy compared to the original, anyone ahd this problem before?

Could this have anything to do with playback settings? Read that Larry Jordan recommend "high quality" instead of "better"? Any thoughts, anyone? Really need an answer.....
How does FCP fit into your question?
I'm currently using fcpx, and have transcoded mts files to optimized media (pro res 422), but the resolution is not as good and clear as the original files. How come? Is it a matter of settings in fcpx? I have used both fcp 7 and avid before and never had this experience....
Why are you using ClipWrap to transcode? If you have destroyed the folder structure from your media, and only have the mts files, just use ClipWrap to rewrap to QuickTime. If you want ProRes use the optimize option when you import the media.
Thanks for the suggestion Tom. I 'll try that. The orginial media folder is intact on en external hard drive. The reason I transcoded in ClipWrap was that the Panasonic Tm 900 internal memory (this particulary original media) doesn't seem to work with fcpx if you shoot in 1080/ 50p. At least that's was I have figured out so far. the Sd card works fine though.. Anything else you can suggest on this subject would be appreciated!
What version of the software are you using? It should work. I've imported 1080p60. I'd be surprised if 50p was a problem.
The latest update 10.0.6 of fcpx.

Yes, there is that option in the camera. Haven't tried it though since I plan to just use the sd card in the future. But it's still a mystery that fcpx won' t import the camera 's media folder.... Just the sd card

I have a Panasonic HDC TM700 AVCHD and I have to use Clipwrap to import my 1080p/60 files. I don't now any other way to get the mts files in FCPX. I don't have any problems with resolution however. Out of curiosity I would like someone to tell me howto get my files in directly, although I like Clipwrap. It is easy to use.
With AVCHD cameras you connect the camera and use the import window, which mounts the media. Perhaps there is a problem with this model.
The device is Cam_Mem and I can see the files in the import window bu tthey are greyed out. I tried to take sceen shot but I messed up some how and it didn't save in my iClip.
That is very strange. A screen shot would really help. Try Shift-Cmd-4 and drag a selection across the screen.
