A few details would help:
What format are you trying to capture?
What camera (or other device) are you capturing from?
What capture settings are you using in FCE?

Im sorry,
Camera is Sony HVR HD 1000U
The video is in HD
Trying to capture preset at DV NTSC
Don't use the DV capture setting for HD footage ... use the appropriate HDV setting.

I just tried all HD setting in the easy set up box and it wont capture. Im at a total loss as to what to do now.
Have you checked the camera's settings to make sure it is set to output HDV over Firewire (iLink)? Details of how to set up the camera are in the user's manual.

Ive got a wedding video to edit. David, can you assist me more here? When I click my "CAPTURE PROJECT", this is the box and message that comes up.
The following items cannot be precessed by Batch Capture
Sequence 1 - no mdeia in sequence 2 - no media
Capture Project is not for capturing clips from a camera before a Project is started.
It's for recapturing the footage from a camera that has aready been captured and it will only work with DV cameras not HDV.
HDV cameras may or may not output HDV because of the camera menu settings.
Without some specifics about how the camera menu settings are set, we can only generalize about what FCE Easy Setup to use to get you going.
Dig into the menu and relay what all the settings are.

I think i can see whats going on here. When i plug in my iLink cable to my mac, it shows up on the camera LCD SCREEN. As soon as I plug it in, it shows iLink Out but quickly reverts to iLink in. Im trying to figure out how to change it to out on my camera.
My camera video screen shows the iLink pluged in but it wont go to HDV OUT. I plug it in it shows out for a split second but reverts to IN. I dont know how to change that.
Try FCE>View>Refresh video devices.

Thanks Alchroma, I just got home and tried that. The camera reverts to HDVout and quickly back to HDVin. Im almost at a total loss as to what do do.
It has got to be something really simple that im missing here.
Go to camera menu settings:
In/Out Rec
HDV/DV Sel - Auto
DV Rec Mode - SP (not applicable)
Component - 1080i/576i
i.Link Conv - Off
TV Type - 16:9
A/V DV Out - Off
With the above settings you should be able to send HDV out of the camera over firewire.

Thanks Al. I dont have TV Type on the camera or A/V DV Out but Im looking at the menu on the camera. Also there is no 576i but I chose the only option anyway.
Tom
What isthere in your in/out menu?
Relay the settings.
