Can you take us through the steps you made to install the disk, erase the disk for use with your MBP and loading the OS onto the disk?

Installing the disk is very easy, I know - I've a Crucial m4 512GB myself. So the only problem I could see there is not seating the SATA cable properly or a bad (or damaged) cable.

But what steps did you follow afterward? Here's a good user tip about cloning a new HD or SSD from your old drive - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4122.

Hello , a big thanks for all who try to help me, i solve my issue. and i am going to give you what i made for it working. I was constraint to make a partition with an other MacBook Pro but 2010 and not early 2011. and install the OSX from that 2010 machine after that, it works on my early 2011 model. I think the MBP EARLY 2011 have an issue with SSD.

@Bastian Andre, for my case every time i try to install a SSD on a MBP early 2011 ( M4 or 840 Pro) it's not work like it does ! and sometimes it's never work like for the M4 one. i have many off others MBP and it's work on the other machine exept on the MBP 2011. The EFI & SMC are up to date . the SATA Cable is ok because with a traditional Hard drive it's work properly. So i think Apple must tell that we have a problem with this MBP 2011 and the SSD from the main suppliers !

If the software you are using (to boot that troublesome MacBook) came shipped in the box with a particular model of Macintosh, it will only boot that model and no others -- even if it has been updated to later version of 10.8

On the other hand, if that software came from a Purchased version of 10.8 (upgraded or not) it will boot any appropriate Mac.

I was originally not me having trouble with that drive, since i do not own one yet. (Fbo6 is Threadstarter)

I just replied to this thread in order to figure out if there was a general problem with this SSD in a MBP 13" 2011, because i was quiet interessted in getting one for my own.

Interessting information there about the bootable SSD in the optical bay. So would it be more reasonable to put it in place of my Thoshiba HDD and get that one in the optical bay?
