I have an 2.7 GHz intel core i5 4GB RAM Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 ad is too slow what can I do?

If I have just 2 applications opened like safari and itunes and starts being slow, When I work with photoshop it`s so frustrating, I bought this computer 'cause they recommend for design and I'm starting to prefer PC again! what can I do???

Please carefully read Activity Monitor to read System Memory and determine how much RAM is being used and report back with what you find, you may only need to upgrade the RAM.

However have you done any troubleshooting such as restarting in Safe Mode to clear some caches or a SMC reset or even just restarting the computer?
