When uploading data for a CD I receive: "An error occured in the query subsystem." Also, I do not get data importing popular store purchased CDs. I connect to the Interent fine and am not using a proxy server. I entered the case on the same PC iTunes is installed.  I have the latest version of iTunes. This is the first time I have imported CDs or tried to upload track data I have entered.  Are any special settings needed? From the help files, it appears it should be an automatic upload / download.

    It should be.

Try disabling your anti-virus utilities or firewall. Norton / Symantec has been known to block the required communication.

I disabled my A-V software and still have the same issue: "An error occured in the query subsystem." uploading CD data and no track information for my daughter's Rascal Flatts CD - "The song names for this CD could not be found online."

Are you trying to upload the data?

Advanced menu > "Submit CD Track Names..."

Yes.  After entering the information into iTunes, I select the CD then Advanced menu > "Submit CD Track Names...".  As for the no titles found, when I insert a CD into my computer I get the message.the names cannot be found online.

Are you able to upload data to the Grace Media Database?  Do you mind trying a CD you know has the correct data, just to make sure the database is working?

  • John Galt Level 8 (45,978 points)

I can try that, but I have already submitted the CD track names for my few CDs that were not already in the Gracenote database.

It may take some time for me to find one that is not.

My first attempt at querying the CDDB database went as expected:

I changed nothing and submitted the information for the same CD:

I still have to find a CD it doesn't know about. That is going to be a challenge.

That isn't necessary as you have shown it works. Thank you for trying.

Can it be a Bonjour issue?  At one time I disabled it to free memory on my antiquaeted system. I figured the reinstall would install it.  I will check that and reboot if it needs installed / enabled.

iPod helper service and bonjour are both running.  I haven't rebooted since install though so will try that later. I have to leave for work now. Thanks for all your help.

I really doubt it, since Bonjour is used for other things like network device detection and communication.

If you are certain nothing is blocking communication on your computer or router, perhaps there is a required iTunes component missing. You might try downloading and installing iTunes again. You could precede this by uninstalling iTunes but I would consider that a last resort.

That is all I can think of for now. I perused Gracenote's website and found nothing enlightening.

I have tried removing all traces of iTunes / Apple software, multiple reboots, multiple CDs, rebuilding my library, disabling my A / V software and running the iTunes diagnostics.  I have not had success getting this to work.

I have found multiple requests for help going back to 2007 on this same issue.  Never has Apple responded to a single instance I have found.

Connection attempt to purchasing from iTunes Store was successful.

Connection attempt to iPhone activation server was successful.

Connection attempt to firmware update server was successful.

Connection attempt to Gracenote server was successful.

Last successful iTunes Store access was 2012-11-18 09:21:36.

Still iTunes does not upload to Gracenote nor find song names for CD's I feel are likely to be there.

I forgot.  I also reset my iPod to ensure nothing was wrong there. It reset fine and resync'd my library fine.

Please post your solution if you had this issue.  I do not have trouble with my Internet connection otherwise.

Found the answer to how to check Gracenotes content .  We no longer can check.

Where did the music search go?

Gracenote made the hard decision to remove the website search in favor of focusing the site and our web resources on our customers. Many millions of you will still use Gracenote’s recognition technology daily, on your desktop with products like iTunes and Winamp, on your mobile phones, in your cars and home entertainment systems. Thank you for understanding.

To John Galt, thanks for all you're help - very kind of you to take the time. It looks like this is another unknown.
