Email between iOs devices

I've had iPads since the first one launched. I have an iPad3 and my first iPhone, which is an iPhone 5.

I was used to check my e-mail in iPad and delete from server all the messages I didn't want. What I'm finding now is that I have to delete messages on both devices and I don't like that. Even if I delete from server on one device, the same messages need to be deleted on the other.

Is there a way around this?

I have several e-mail accounts: gmail, hotmail, yahoo, icloud, and one pop mail account from my service provider. I have all of them set to delete from server when I delete from the device.

Any thoughts?

If you use IMAP your emails should be in sync on all devices. However, if you use POP - the messages may need touch on all your devices to be deleted. As well, if you set sync on your phone to manual or longer period than on iPad it may need your manual refresh or time to get synced.

I decided to let the iPhone be the main E-mail manager, I set the iPad to manual, in the iPhone I delete all messages that I don't want, and then when I go to the iPad and open the mail app the messages I want are the ones downloaded.

This works for me because I will have the phone more on me than the iPad.

If you configure your iPhone as well as iPad email accounts to be IMAP, then all the devices including computer mail client (if it is IMAP as well) and the www mail access would be in sync, and thus no difference where you delete the message - it gets deleted from all the devices.

Can I configure all my email accounts as imap?

gmail, yahoo, pop, hotmail, icloud?

Yes, however I am not sure what you mean by pop

to add gmail Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Acount > Gmail and add required information

the same with Yahoo, Hotmail and iCloud

All of my accounts are set as imap yet then dont sync read or deleted across my devices, iPhone iPad and Mac. Did you have to do anything else to get it to work. I'm sure mine used to sync correctly in older versions of iOS.
