How can I Connect to an AirPort Network Without Setting it up?

My grandfather recently bought an AirPort router from Apple. He never set it up though and he is connected with his iPhone and his iPad. When I tried to connect with an iPod touch it said it needed to be set up befor I could have Internet access. How can I connect to the network without setting it up?

iPod touch, iOS 6, 4G 32GB

By default, without any administrative changes, the AirPort will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN. Your iPod Touch, like any wireless client should be able to connect to this network by entering this Network Name from the iPod's Setting app.
