I forgot the password to my encrypted home folder

1) You posted this in the OSX 10.3 and earlier forum. If you are using a MacBook Air you need to post in the correct forum for your operating system.

2) This is a Filevault style protection? If so, there is no way short of a supercomputer to recover your password. It is secure so nobody can recover it, not even you.
