I have for the first time ever purchased a book from itunes and have it downloaded on my apple mini. I can't open it? What is the major malfunction here?

iBooks can only be read on mobile devices, not on computers.

So....let me get this straight. Itunes is an Apple product that was auto loaded on my Apple computer when purchased. But if I buy a book from Apple Itunes I can't read it on my Apple computer. Not only that, Apple Itunes does not tell you that you CANNOT read your Apple purchase book on your Apple computer. Right? Something sounds a little illegal here to me. I have an Apple ipad that I have to plug into my Apple computer to use Apple itunes. How do I get my Apple purchase from my Apple computer on to my Apple ipad? My head is dizzy!

Correct. The iBooks feature is there in iTunes for convenience so you can buy a book using your computer prior to transferring it to your device.

Wrong. I don't have the image here, nor do I have an iTunes account to provide one, but I distinctly recall somebody else complaining about this and a person posting an image of the window where you click to buy a book and it specifically stating you must have a mobile device.

What is? Again I cannot post the image here but I bet it says it. As always, you need to read the details of things when purchasing.

Your link finally solved the issue. Thank you. As I knew I wanted to purchase the book having read the intro elsewhere, I clicked purchase when I located it. The message you refer to does not appear until you open the book to preview it. Much aggravation would be avoided by all if Apple put that on the books home page. Thank you for your help.
