Eject a stuck optical disk
I have a Powerbook G4 (6,4) running 10.5.8. If an optical disk wont eject thru normal means how do you get it out? There's no pin hole like in the old desktops.
Thanks.

If you have the problem where you can’t empty the Trash or eject a disk because something is preventing you? Usually the reason is because some application has a file open, and thus you can’t get rid of the disk or trash the file. Then use What’s Keeping Me! What’s Keeping Me (10.4) will identify the application that is preventing you from accomplishing your task. You can then use What's Keeping Me to quit, relaunch, or kill the problem application so you can get on with your business.

Try this procedure:
Enabling an Eject menu As a side note, you can enable another means of ejecting disks by opening the folder System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras and double-clicking the file "Eject.menu". An eject icon will appear in the menubar that can be used to close and open selected optical drives.
Cheers, Tom 😉
Ok. That worked. Thanks.
In one of Texas Mac Man's links above, did you find the Terminal command
drutil eject
?
Thanks Tom. A lot of good info there that I didn't know. Great for future reference.
Jon
Yes, it's there. Thanks.
