Time Machine must create a new backup for you.
I am backing up my rMBP running 10.8.2 to a third gen Time Capsule over Wifi. It has been backing up successfully since I bought it a few months ago. It stopped backing up for 12 days (because I was away from home, so this is expected). During that time I updated to the latest notebook update (MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Update 2.0), which changed the build number to 12C3006. The next time it tried to back up, it performed a deep scan, and stated it had to back up around 8 GB (expected because of the new update). It backed up, but when it was almost completed, I got this message:
"Time Machine completed a verification of your backups on "TC". To improve reliability, Time Machine must complete a new backup for you."
My questions are: Is there a way to figure out what caused this to occur? Is there a way to fix it, or do I have to start a new backup and wipe out all of my backup history? How can I prevent this from occurring in the future?
Thank you!
