ringtones going into iTunes music instead of Tones

I have installed an App from the App Store called Ringtones and I have used it to create ringtones from my music. It saves the file with the .m4r extension but when I import them into iTunes they go into the music section instead of the tones. I tried renaming the files to a different name from the song in the iTunes music library but it still didn't fix the problem. How do I get them into the Tones library so I can sync them to my phone and use them as ringtones? The file shows as an m4r file and plays just fine. The program by default makes the ringtone 40 seconds long, but I saw mention of 30 seconds so I made one 29 seconds long and that didn't help either. What am I missing?

Thanks

Yes, I played the tones on my computer, they opened in iTunes and played fine, but went to the Music Library intestead of Tones.

Not sure what Youtube video you are talking about. I find none with the app nor do I see it on the app's web page. I did only get the free version so far. Is that an issue? It does not say that is a limitation on the free version and it lets me create the ringtones complete with instructions to get them to my phone through iTunes. It won't let me download any ringtones from their library though without purchasing their app.

Their support link goes to http://www.gemerix.com/ but it's a dead page. Here's the links to the free app and the paid app.

Chris,

In the summary tab of the info section it already shows the file as a ringtone. The only other place I could see that this could possibly be changed is on the Options tab of the Info, and it has a "Media Kind" drop-down box, and the drop-down has Musc, Podcast, iTunes U, Audiobook and Voice Memo as selections, no ringtone. Suggestions?

Cheonweb, yes I tried to drag them to the Tones Library in iTunes. They get the red circle with the slash icon when trying to drop them in that library and of course won't copy that way.

razmee209, NP, I should have linked the App the first time. I'm certain they will sync if I can ever get them in the Tones library. :-(

Thanks

I don't really understand why it would not work. Have you tried to check and see if the app developer has a support website? See if there are comments in the App store regarding the app and anyone else describing problems. Since it is saving the file as a m4r, you haven't done anything with it, so I am not sure what it does to save the file. Try changing the file extension to m4a and see if it works as a music file, then change the extension again and try to sync.

Chris,

As razmee209 mentioned, and I did too in a previous post, the support link goes to a dead site. Funny thing is the reviews on the free version are bad, because of crashes, something I haven't seen and the developer said was fixed, but the reviews on the paid version are really good, but sparse. If I'm going to go the AAC version route I might as well dump the app. lol I thought about file corruption too, but if it was corrupt it shouldn't play and it does. I'm still wondering if they have something rigged with it untill you install their paid app. Their app is cheap at a $1 but I don't really want to through a dollar in the toilet if the app still *****. lol I was hoping there was a logical solution to why iTunes won't put the files where they belong, especially since I've read a ton of thread where people were having similar problems with other programs. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any.

Thanks
