Q: I followed the instructions implicitly and after the old ipod downloaded the computer indicated that I could eject the ipod. However, the ipod continues to flash "do not disconnect"-what the hey???!!!

I followed the instructions implicitly and after the old ipod downloaded the computer indicated that I could eject the ipod. However, the ipod continues to flash "do not disconnect"-what the hey???!!! I cannot get it to turn off or view the, supposedly downloaded, information. I am attempting to give this old ipod to a friend as I have one that is newer. This propriatary stuff is getting to be a bit much.

iPod classic, Mac OS X (10.4.7)

So I assume you want to wipe the device clean before giving it to your friend? In that case, did you have them restore the iPod to factory settings in iTunes?

If so, there shouldn't be able problems using on of the methods in this Apple support document to eject the device.
