Is 8GB on a iPod touch enough for an 8 year old child?

I want to get a refurbished iPod touch for my 8 year old. Is 8gb enough to play apps and have some music? No need to watch movies on it.

iPod touch, 8GB

Once the iOS software is installed and without numbers are reported for drive space on iOS devices, there will be ~6.9 GB left of storage space. Whether or not that will be sufficient depends on how large of apps the child downloads onto the device and how much music you'd like to be storing on it. For many, it isn't quite enough, so they have no choice but to upgrade to the 32 GB model.

As planb77 said, with the software installed, it'll come down to about 6.9GB. But for an 8 year old, I'm going to make an assumption here and say it's perfectly fine. Most of my friends have the 8GB models, but for me, I'm a huge music junkie and take multiple photos so I really need at least the 32GB. Apps don't take up as much space as I initially thought. Unless your child is a huge music fan and intends on having hundreds or thousands of songs, I'm sure it'll be fine.
