Can't update to 10.8.2 on new mac mini

I bought a mac mini from the apple store today and it's running 10.8.1 The only update available in my app store in for iphoto and it says I need 10.8.2 to get it. But there's no option to download 10.8.2 in my app store. I went and tried to get a COMBO pack update off the app store, but it says my hard drive isn't compatible with it and then went to apple site to download the update for mac mini and the link doesn't work. Need help finding out how to update my mac mini from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

Sounds like I just wasted a couple of hours trying to do the same update you are trying to do. I bought my mini two days ago and fired it up for the first time this morning. I did run the Disk Utility and if fixed issues with the Permissions, but that was not the issue. I even (reluctantly) tried to buy the update from the App Store and it says the update is not compatible with my computer.

This is my first Mac since I had a Mac Plus way back when, and I can tell you it is not off to a great start.

I bought a new mac mini last week. I updated my old mac mini and did a time capsule backup. When I plug in my new mac mini and restore all the information from the time capsule, I had all my documents, but I can't use iphoto. It tells me that I need to update to 10.8.2, and it has been imposible to update it from the app store. I downloaded the 10.8.2 update from the web and does not upgrade either.

I called apple support and received no solution.

Maybe is time to start thinking on switching back to microsoft.

If anyone has a solution it will be appreciated.

Unfortunately the "solution" will be when Apple makes the update available again.

The new late 2012 machines require a different build, so they can't use the "regular" update. The special update was available last week and was suddenly pulled - I'm sure there must have been a good reason (better safe than sorry).

So, all you can do is work with your machines as they are until the update is available again.

Hi Bill!

45 years ago, I was one of your students in Junior Economics Tutorial at Harvard. I know you've done very well since. I can't complain about how I've done, either. Today, I have the same problem as you do with my shiny blazing-fast new Macbook Pro with Retina Display and flash storage. I can't install 10.8.2. What's annoying about that is that I can't access my iPhoto library, which I imported from my old Macbook. My old Macbook has 10.8.2 and a version of iPhoto that requires 10.8.2. If anyone out there is thinking of buying a Macbook Pro with flash memory, I recommend that you wait until Apple comes out with a version of 10.8.2+ that will install.

I just installed my new Mini today, and encountered the same update problem. I called Apple Support because the wording of the error message seemed to imply that something is wrong with my disk volume. What a mistake!

The gentleman on the phone was astounded to hear about this problem, and proceeded to take me through many blind alleys (disk utility, apple-id issues, etc.) When I finally got him to escalate (after an hour), he came back and told me that the update had been pulled.

Perhaps it would make sense to:

- inform the level one support people that this situation exists

- issue error messages that explain the problem

I blame myself for not doing a simple Google search first, but still....
